DEHRADUN: Former Uttarakhand DGP B S Sidhu and 7 others have been booked for an unlawful possession of forest land and subsequently chopping 25 “sal” timber.
The case has been registered on the Rajpur police station by Mussoorie Divisional Forest Officer Ashutosh Singh after getting permission from the Uttarakhand authorities, police stated right here.
A police officer stated it was alleged within the criticism that Sidhu in 2012 purchased one and half hectares of land in Virgirwali village of the Mussoorie forest division and minimize 25 “sal” timber.
On receiving data, the state Forest Department performed an inquiry, by which it got here to mild that the timber had been planted on reserve forest land.
The Forest Department had additionally challaned Sidhu.
Later, the registry of the land in Sidhu’s title was additionally cancelled and permission was sought from the federal government to file a case towards him.
Sidhu has been the Director General of Police from September 2013 to April 2016.
The case has been registered beneath Sections 420, 424, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
