By India Today Web Desk: Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Monaco chief Laurence Stewart as their new technical director. Stewart, who is currently the technical director of AS Monaco, will take on the role after his obligations with the Ligue 1 club are completed.
Long-standing director Marina Granovskaia and technical advisor Petr Cech left their roles when Boehly took over in May. Boehly operated as an interim football director, as well as co-owner and he is now assembling a star-studded cast of executives.
He has worked with RB Leipzig, Manchester City, and the England national team in the past. “I’m excited to hitch (Chelsea) to assist them construct a world-class international sporting group to constantly win on the pitch on the highest ranges and supply participant pathways to assist develop our expertise,” Stewart said in a statement.
Stewart’s appointment is the latest development in a major overhaul at Stamford Bridge since a group led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital purchased Chelsea in May.
“Laurence is a vital appointment as we plan to construct a deep sporting crew that can collaborate carefully,” Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali said in a joint statement.
“Laurence is a world-class soccer chief who understands expertise administration, information and scouting, participant growth and efficiency.” Boehly has spoken previously of his need to implement a multi-club mannequin at Chelsea. Stewart has prior expertise of working in such fashions, having labored at Leipzig and City, which each have plenty of sister golf equipment internationally.
On Saturday, Chelsea will journey to Brighton & Hove Albion, who’re at present fourth within the league standings.
