European nations, together with England, are pushing FIFA for “concrete answers” on points regarding migrant employees forward of the World Cup.

In its assertion it stated it acknowledged “significant progress” has been made with reference to the rights of migrant employees. “We also recognise that every country has issues and challenges and we agree with FIFA that diversity is a strength,” it added. “However, embracing diversity and tolerance also means supporting human rights. Human rights are universal and they apply everywhere.”
