By India Today Web Desk: At least one individual died and a number of other others have been injured after an explosion rocked Turkey’s Istanbul on Sunday, Reuters reported. The blast occurred on a busy pedestrian avenue in central Istanbul’s Taksim space, leaving a number of folks wounded.
State media confirmed movies of ambulances and police headed to the scene on Istanbul’s Istiklal Street following the blast.
A robust explosion was heard Sunday in a busy space within the coronary heart of Istanbul, Turkish media reported, saying that individuals had been injured. The explosion occurred shortly after 4:00 pm (1300 GMT), reported the tv channel NTV.
Videos shared on social media present folks strolling on the busy avenue when the explosion occurred. A loud blast might be heard, following which the pedestrians are seen working for canopy.

A CCTV footage exhibits pedestrians strolling by when an explosion rocked the busy avenue.
“Today, at around 16.20, an explosion occurred in Taksim Istiklal Street in our Beyoglu district. Our police, health, fire and AFAD teams were sent to the scene. There are casualties and injuries. Developments will be shared with the public,” mentioned Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya.
