NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has accepted the submitting of a petition within the Supreme Court difficult its resolution to acquit three convicts within the 2012 Chhawla rape-and-murder case who have been awarded the demise sentence, official stated on Monday.
Saxena has additionally accepted partaking Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to characterize the Delhi authorities within the case, a senior official stated.
“The LG has approved the filing of a review petition in the Supreme Court against its decision of acquitting the three accused,” the official stated.
The three have been awarded the demise sentence by a trial court docket which was upheld by the Delhi High Court for the grotesque rape and homicide of a 19-year previous girl on February 9, 2012 at Chhawla, Dwarka, Delhi.
They had appealed towards the sentence on the Supreme Court that in its judgment on November 7 , 2022 put aside the trial court docket and High Court orders.
