By India Today Web Desk: The German soccer federation (DFB) is about to take authorized motion towards FIFA for not letting gamers put on OneLove armbands within the ongoing World Cup in Qatar. Earlier, the world soccer’s governing physique threatened to present yellow playing cards to captains of the taking part groups, after which the DFB refused its gamers to put on the armbands.
DFB’s spokesperson Stefan Simon confirmed the federation has lodged a criticism towards FIFA over the ban on sporting the armbands.
“Fifa has forbidden us from using a symbol of diversity and human rights. It said the ban would be linked to massive penalties (in the nature of) sporting sanctions without concretising exactly what it meant. The DFB is keen to clarify whether Fifa’s procedure is in fact legitimate,” Stefan Simon was quoted as saying.
After FIFA issued the menace, seven European groups backed out from sporting the armbands with fears of getting sanctioned by FIFA. The German board, nonetheless, suffered a blow because of the ban after REWE, a grocery store chain, pulled out of their sponsorship take care of the crew.
“We stand up for diversity – and football is also diversity. We live this position and we defend it. FIFA’s scandalous attitude is absolutely unacceptable,” Rewe Group Chief Executive Lionel Souque stated.
Hansi Flick, the Germany supervisor, reckoned that it was unacceptable for FIFA to not let gamers ‘stand up for human rights’.
“The team is shocked something like that was not feasible. I think it’s a shame that you can no longer stand up for human rights,” Flick stated.
“If it was only a yellow card, that would have been okay. But FIFA didn’t specify the sanctions. It’s a shame that our fight for human rights was not allowed to stand up. I think it’s a shame that you can no longer stand up for human rights,” he added.
Midfielder Joshua Walter Kimmich additionally expressed his shock over FIFA’s choice to ban OneLove armbands.
