The observe at Brisbane got here underneath fireplace after the match got here to an finish inside two days as 34 wickets fell with the hosts successful the sport in the long run.
ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees member Richie Richardson launched his report for the pitch, deeming it as ‘beneath common’.
“Overall, the Gabba pitch for this Test match was too much in favour of the bowlers. There was extra bounce and occasional excessive seam movement. The odd delivery also kept low on the second day, making it very difficult for batters to build partnerships,” the ICC report learn.
“I found the pitch to be “below average” as per the ICC tips because it was not a fair contest between bat and ball,” it additional added.
Vettori has now defended the observe for the primary Test saying he has performed on pitches have been extra worse than the one in Gabba. The Australian assistant coach, as quoted by Zerowicket, stated such tracks do pop up occasionally and it might show for the batting group.
“I played two Test matches where I did not bowl a ball,” Vettori stated.
“They just pop up from time to time. It is a challenge for a batting group every time.”
Vettori stated that it would not be a nasty factor to have such tracks occasionally as a bowling unit.
“I just think it was just really tough conditions and once in a while as a bowling group you don’t mind that.”
“Just because of the nature of how good those bowling attacks were they probably embellished it a bit. So, you wouldn’t want to play on it every day, but I think for occasional Test matches it’s not the worst thing.”
Vettori stated that whereas the wicket did do loads, the knocks of Travis Head, Steve Smith and Kyle Verreynee proved that you can get runs in such tracks as soon as get settled.
“It was definitely amplified because of the standard of the bowling. People talk about these two attacks being potentially the best in the world.”
“And the wicket did a lot. But I think we saw through Travis Head’s innings, Steve Smith and (Kyle) Verreynne if you got in you could score on it.”
