Notably, the PCB introduced a 16-man squad for the 2-Test sequence in opposition to New Zealand, beginning December 26. Babar was named the captain of the squad.
DISCUSSION ON BABAR’S CAPTAINCY
Raja, in accordance with the report, was not proud of the choices made for the Test sequence and gave a chunk of his thoughts to the management group.
“Babar told the chairman that the injury issues with the three main fast bowlers, Shaheen (Afridi), Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah, had hit their plans hard and weakened the bowling considerably, allowing England batters to score freely,” it added.
The Test captaincy is more likely to go to Shan Masood or Mohammad Rizwan however the PCB would not wish to take away Babar proper now as it would have an effect on his morale.
Babar, in accordance with the report, had informed that Pakistan haven’t got the expertise and high quality to beat Test sides like England and Australia for the time being.
“A lot of discussion has been held on Babar’s future as Test captain and it was decided to maintain status quo for now.”
