By India Today Web Desk: Liverpool supervisor Jurgen Klopp questioned the absence of VAR within the League Cup match towards Manchester City, saying the dearth of expertise wronged the Reds.
Liverpool, the title holders of the League Cup, crashed out after taking place towards Manchester City 2-3 in an exciting match on Thursday. Defender Nathan Ake scored the winner for City within the 58th minute after Mohamed Salah equalised Riyad Mahrez’s benefit.
After the match, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp stated that Earling Haaland’s purpose was offside and criticised the dearth of VAR expertise, which is unavailable within the League Cup till the semi-final stage.
“I would say it makes sense. If you play a competition now and everywhere as we are, then why should you not. Especially in a game like this. I understand in earlier rounds when it’s maybe not possible on all levels but then now it’s City against Liverpool. I think all the technical things are here so why shouldn’t we use it? Yeah,” Klopp stated.
Klopp additional stated that the match was “spectacular” and referred to as the early phases of the match “high intensity”.
“So there’s a lot to take from. Yeah, the result obviously notand the goals we conceded not but in between yes. We played, said it a couple of times, probably the best team in the world, unbelievable how they are and what they do.
“It is regular that you just’re struggling in moments so yeah, I settle for that. That’s why, particularly within the (unidentified) won’t depend an excessive amount of now as a result of we won’t play each three days towards Man City. But we are able to do higher and we’ll work on that. Let’s guarantee that we’re prepared for Aston Villa,” Klopp stated.
Liverpool will now shift focus to the Premier League match towards Aston Villa on December 26.
