By India Today Web Desk: Australia Test captain Pat Cummins confirmed that Scott Boland will play the Boxing Day Test towards South Africa as Josh Hazlewood continues to recuperate from a aspect pressure.
Australia, who lead the three-test collection 1-0, will tackle South Africa within the second match in Melbourne from December 26.
“We gave Joshy (Hazlewood) every chance, (but) it just got to a stage where (he) more than anyone else felt like he was a little bit underdone,” Cummins mentioned as quoted by cricket.com.au.
“It is a mark of the man really, he himself said ‘don’t feel quite right’ so he kind of pulled himself out of selection. We talk a lot about how (as) a team we need a squad mentality and I think it is another great example.”
Boland is in unbelievable kind and presently boasts one of the best Test bowling common of all time. He has picked up 25 wickets at 10.33 since his debut in December 2021, when he returned with the figures of 6/7 to assist Australia seal the Ashes.
“We didn’t really get to the decision point, we gave it enough time and it played out,” Cummins mentioned on the choice dilemma. “There would have been a part of everyone that would have felt a little bit aggrieved if Scott missed out.”

Australia received the primary Test towards South Africa by six wickets on Day 2 on the Gabba. Following the match, the ICC match referee graded the Gabba pitch as “below average” and mentioned that it was “not an even contest between bat and ball”.
