By India Today Web Desk: Skipper Babar Azam backed his resolution to declare Pakistan’s second innings within the final session of Day 5 within the opening Test towards New Zealand at National Stadium in Karachi.
Pakistan declared their second innings at 311 for the lack of eight wickets, after which the Black Caps have been set a goal of 138 in 15 overs.
After the Kiwis misplaced Michael Bracewell early to Abrar Ahmed, Devon Conway and Tom Latham placed on 57 runs for the second wicket off 6.3 overs and gave the Black Caps a sensible probability to chase the goal down.
However, unhealthy gentle stopped play and the match led to a draw. Babar was of the opinion that he wished a results of the match and therefore, he went for the declaration.

In New Zealand’s second innings, Babar Azam rolled his arms over for 4 overs, though he couldn’t make a breakthrough. He additionally lauded Mohammad Wasim Jr and Saud Shakeel for his or her contributions within the sport.
“Our fifth bowler is Salman Agha, he wasn’t been feeling well. We missed him with the ball. So, I think our five-bowler attack is good. Wasim and Saud brought us back into the match. Credit to them for playing positive cricket,” he acknowledged.
“Saud played a mature innings and we look forward to him playing in the future,” Babar added.
The left-handed Shakeel stayed unbeaten on 55 runs off 108 balls with seven fours and one six.
The second Test is scheduled to begin on January 2 in Karachi itself. Pakistan couldn’t win a single dwelling Test out of seven matches in 2022.
