By India Today Web Desk: New Zealand fast-bowler Trent Boult has stated that successful the World Test Championship is likely one of the proudest achievements any New Zealander might have. The Kiwis beat India to win the 2021 World Test Championship in Southampton.
Speaking to The Age, Boult stated for a nation of simply 5 million to beat India within the WTC closing is an achievement any New Zealander would’ve been pleased with.
“For us even to get to that stage as a Test-playing nation of however many people (five million), playing probably only eight Tests a year – if that. To get two years of results to get into the final, and then beat India – 1.4 billion people – will never happen again. I think that’s one of the proudest achievements any New Zealander could have, when you look at the sheer size of it,” stated Boult.
The pacer stated he’s extremely pleased with what he has achieved in Test cricket however appears like he’s on the finish of that piece of string.
“I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved in the Test arena. But I’ve got three young kids and I look at my career as a length of string. I feel like I’m at the later end of that piece of string,” Boult added.
The 33-year-old stated his resolution to step away from his contract with New Zealand cricket has opened the door for different gamers ready on the sidelines.
“I’ve chosen to go into two other leagues around the busiest time in the New Zealand cricket summer. I do understand that the decision to give back my contract obviously is going to open the door for other people,” stated Boult.
