By Reuters: Iran summoned France’s envoy in Tehran on Wednesday to protest in opposition to “insulting” cartoons revealed by the French satirical journal Charlie Hebdo depicting the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iranian state media reported.
The French weekly had revealed dozens of cartoons about Khamenei, which it stated had been a part of a contest it launched final month to help anti-government protests in Iran sparked by the demise of a younger girl in September whereas within the custody of morality police.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran does not accept insulting its Islamic, religious, and national sanctities and values in any way,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani advised the French envoy on Wednesday, based on state TV.
The French Foreign Ministry didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
Facing their worst legitimacy disaster for the reason that 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran’s non secular leaders have accused its overseas foes of orchestrating the anti-government mass protests to destabilise the nation.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian earlier on Wednesday warned that the “offensive and indecent” transfer would obtain a agency response from Tehran.

“We won’t allow the French government to go too far. They’ve definitely chosen the wrong path,” Amirabdollahian tweeted.
The journal stated it revealed the caricatures in a particular version to mark the anniversary of a lethal assault on its Paris workplace on Jan. 7, 2015 by Islamist militants, after the weekly had revealed cartoons mocking the Prophet Mohammed.
It stated the competition aimed “to support the struggle of Iranians who are fighting for their freedom”.
