JAMMU: Two heavily-armed terrorists have been killed as Army troops foiled an infiltration try alongside the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman stated on Sunday.
The infiltration bid was scuttled in Balakot sector on Saturday night and a large search operation continues to be underway, the spokesman stated.
“At around 7.45 pm (Saturday), alert troops of the Indian Army deployed on the border fence in Balakot, observed suspicious movement ahead of the border fence and subsequently neutralised two terrorists. The area has been cordoned off and the operation is in progress,” the spokesman stated.
Officials stated an enormous amount of arms and ammunition, together with two AK assault rifles and a strong Improvised Explosive Device (IED), have been recovered from the possession of the slain ultras whose id and group affiliation are awaited.
The profitable operation in Balakot sector comes barely per week after terrorists attacked Dhangri village within the adjoining Rajouri district and killing seven civilians and injuring 14 others.
