By Reuters: US President Joe Biden authorized an emergency declaration for California on Saturday, as storms have pounded the Golden State since Dec. 26, killing no less than 19 individuals and bringing floods, energy outages, mudslides, evacuations and highway closures.
Biden ordered federal support to complement state, tribal and native restoration efforts within the areas affected by extreme winter storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides, the White House mentioned in an announcement.
The president’s motion makes federal funding obtainable to affected people in Merced, Sacramento and Santa Cruz counties, it mentioned.
