By India Today World Desk: The European Union Commission on Thursday banned using Chinese quick video-sharing app TikTook on company telephones. The growth was confirmed by EU trade chief Thierry Breton, who cited a deal with cybersecurity behind the transfer.
“To increase its cybersecurity, the Commission’s Corporate Management Board has decided to suspend the use of the TikTok application on its corporate devices and on personal devices enrolled in the Commission mobile device service,” the EU govt was quoted by Reuters as saying.
“This measure aims to protect the Commission against cybersecurity threats and actions which may be exploited for cyber-attacks against the corporate environment of the Commission,” he mentioned.
Meanwhile, the EU mentioned no stress from the United States was concerned within the determination to ask staff to take away TikTook from their company telephones.
TIKTOK REACTS
On the developments, the Chinese quick video-sharing app mentioned it was disillusioned with the Commission’s determination, because it was “misguided and based on fundamental misconceptions”.
“We have contacted the Commission to set the record straight and explain how we protect the data of the 125 million people across the EU who come to TikTok every month,” an organization spokesperson was quoted by Reuters as saying.
EU’s TOUGH RULES
