By India Today Sports Desk: Australia captain Meg Lanning has urged her group to have “fun” towards India within the semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 on Thursday (February 23).
The defending champions Australia received the toss and opted to bat towards India at Newlands, Cape Town. While Australia are bidding for a hat-trick of titles and a record-extending sixth trophy, India are nonetheless trying to find their first-ever girls’s ICC trophy.
After profitable the toss, Lanning stated: “We are gonna have a bat. Looks a pretty good wicket, conditions are really good so get out there and have some fun. It’s a different wicket, looks like it is playing pretty well, as usual we get out here and see what it is doing and adjust accordingly.”
Australia made two adjustments to their line-up for the semi-final, with Jess Jonassen and Alyssa Healy changing Alana King and Annabel Sutherland.
On the eve of the semi-final conflict, Lanning confirmed that star wicketkeeper-batter Healy was match and obtainable for the essential tie towards India.
“We’ve got a full squad,” Lanning stated on the press convention. “Alyssa Healy is fit and available, which is great for us. She’s had a great tournament so far and is going to play an important role. So that’s nice, but it does make it pretty difficult to get it down to XI.”
Healy missed the ultimate group match of the Women’s T20 World Cup towards South Africa as a consequence of a quad damage. She suffered a calf damage in the course of the T20I tour of India in December final 12 months and subsequently sat out in the course of the T20Is towards Pakistan.
