WPL 2023: We simply backed ourselves to chase the goal, says MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur after win over RCB

Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur stated that her group backed themselves to chase down the goal set by Royal Challengers Bangalore on the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Hayley Matthews stepped up with each bat and ball to information MI to a 9-wicket win over Smriti Mandhana’s RCB.

By India Today Web Desk: Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur stated that her group backed themselves to chase down the goal set by Royal Challengers Bangalore on the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Hayley Matthews stepped up with each bat and ball to information MI to a 9-wicket win over Smriti Mandhana’s RCB.

Speaking after the match, Harmanpreet stated Mumbai’s bowlers restricted RCB to a low whole, including that they backed themselves to chase their goal. RCB have been bowled out for 155 runs with Hayley Matthews selecting up 3 wickets.

“I think batting was the same. We bowled better in the first game than today, but we did well to restrict them to a small score. We just backed ourselves to chase,” stated Harmanpreet.

She went on to say that everybody within the MI camp is having fun with themselves within the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League. MI at present lead the WPL desk, having received each their opening matches.

“Everyone in the team are just happy to do it their way and they’re enjoying themselves. It happens in T20s (on the slower over-rate), you need to give that extra minute to the bowlers,” Harmanpreet added.

Player of the Match, Hayley Matthews, heaped reward on Harmanpreet, saying she has been main the group effectively. Matthews remained unbeaten on 77 runs, whereas selecting up three wickets towards RCB in Mumbai.

“There wasn’t much difference, was able to bat a bit longer today, the freedom in this MI team has given me plenty of confidence. They’re going well at the moment, watching the ball nicely and the ball is coming on nicely. They did put me under pressure in the 1st over, but it was nice to come back well. We’ve so many match-winners in the team and Harman is leading us well,” stated Matthews.

Mumbai Indians will now face Delhi Capitals of their subsequent WPL match on March 9, earlier than taking over UP Warriorz on March 12.
