KOLKATA: The dying toll inside the explosion at an ‘illegal’ fire-cracker manufacturing facility at Egra in East Midnapore district on Tuesday has risen to five.
Seven completely different critically injured people are for the time being current course of treatment at a neighborhood hospital.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased, and Rs 1 lakh for these injured inside the blast.
She ordered a probe into the matter by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police.
Banerjee moreover said that if the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probes the matter, as demanded by state BJP President Sukanta Majumdar, she will not be going to object to it.
Speaking to the mediapersons proper right here, the Chief Minister said that the proprietor of the fire-cracker manufacturing facility, Krishnapada Bag, was arrested by the police in October ultimate 12 months.
“He was arrested for running an illegal fire-cracker factory. The police even issued a charge sheet against him. But the court granted him bail. After that he resumed operations at the unit located close to the Bengal-Odisha border,” she said.
Bag is absconding given that blast at his manufacturing facility and the police suspect that he might have escaped to Odisha.
The Chief Minister moreover said that Bag runs comparable illegal fire-cracker manufacturing enterprise in Odisha and Bangladesh.
Banerjee extra alleged that Trinamool Congress leaders have been stopped by the native BJP cadres from reaching the spot of the explosion.
“The panchayat under which the blast took place is under the control of the BJP,” the Chief Minister said.
Meanwhile, Sukanta Majumdar has claimed that the impression of the explosion reveals that it was not an explosion of wierd fire-crackers.
“We suspect that crude bombs were being manufactured at the factory,” he said.
The native people have alleged that the fire-cracker manufacturing facility was being run illegally with out requisite permission or monitoring of the native administration, along with the police.
They have moreover alleged that their repeated appeals for taking movement in the direction of the illegal fire-cracker factories mushrooming inside the area have been ignored by the native administration.
