Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer Veere Di Wedding achieved 5 years of its launch on Thursday. The film hit the theaters on June 1, 2018. Helmed by Shashanka Ghosh, it was produced by Rhea Kapoor. Rhea took to social media to rejoice the special occasion. Swara known as the film a ‘landmark’ throughout the historic previous of Hindi cinema as a result of it had 4 women on the centre of its plot.
Rhea took to Instagram and wrote, “Happy Veere Day everybody! Call your girlfriends and tell them you love them! I love you @vdwthefilm you changed my life!”. Along with the discover, Rhea posted screenshots of media critiques which declared Veere Di Wedding successful. The film minted Rs 10.70 crore on the first day of its launch.
Veere Di Wedding revolved spherical 4 childhood buddies, Kalindi (Kareena), Sakshi (Swara), Avni (Sonam), and Meera (Shikha), who reunite to attend a wedding.
Sonam’s husband Anand Ahuja commented on Rhea’s put up, “It’s funny you say the film changed your life because it’s so natural to who you have always been as long as I’ve known you – the vision & perspective, the confidence & certainty, the sense of humour & lightheartedness… the film showed all this and acts as proof to always tell your perspective authentically and if so the audience will reward your work.”
Swara Bhasker, who carried out the place of Sakshi, a woman unhappy in her marriage, shared why Veere Di Wedding is specific to her. She talked about in a press launch, “Veere Di Wedding was a hugely special, landmark film not just for me personally but for Bollywood too. It was the first time in mainstream Bollywood’s 100-year history that a film was made with four women in the lead, no hero and the storyline didn’t revolve around two girls being in love with the same man. The film was an unabashed celebration of friendship, from a female perspective, in an industry where normally friendship films centered around male bonding with boys in the lead.”
The actor continued, “It etched four imperfect heroines, each with their own chaos and confusion and created a space where it was okay for women too, to be struggling with adulthood and making mistakes… hitherto a feature reserved for male protagonists. VDW was a breath of fresh air and the best part became the huge success it turned out to be at the Box Office, carving a path for more such fresh stories to be made.”
Earlier in March, Rhea hinted on the sequel to Veere Di Wedding with a cryptic put up. Taking to Instagram, Rhea wrote, “I never thought I was a sequel kinda girl but maybe I am.” Although, Rhea hasn’t clearly revealed what she meant by the put up.
Meanwhile, Rhea shall be subsequent producing an upcoming comedy film The Crew, which stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, Kriti Sanon and Diljit Dosanjh throughout the lead roles. As per a press launch, The Crew is touted as a laugh-riot, set in the direction of the backdrop of the struggling airline commerce. Three women, work and hustle to make it in life. However, their destinies end in some unwarranted circumstances and they also get caught in a web-based of lies. The official launch date of the film continues to be not launched.
