Shreyas Iyer was over the moon after he received the Player of the Match award following India’s thumping 99-run win (DLS) over Australia on Sunday, September 24 on the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
Over the final six months, Iyer has had points along with his again. After he made his comeback in Asia Cup 2023, the right-handed batter once more missed just a few video games as a consequence of a again downside.

“Grateful to be believing in myself. The pain and niggles kept on coming, but I knew what I was aiming for. Glad that I was able to execute my plans perfectly today. Basically, when I went in to bat, I didn’t want to complicate things. I wanted to get my eyes set, that’s how I give confidence to myself,” he acknowledged.
Iyer batted at No.3 on Sunday, however there’s a excessive chance that Virat Kohli would take that place within the third and closing ODI of the sequence. Iyer mentioned that Kohli is “one of the greats” and there’s no likelihood he can take the No.3 spot away from the previous Indian skipper.
“I am flexible, ready to bat any position, whatever my team needs to do. Virat is one of the greats, no chance of stealing that spot from him. Need to keep scoring,” Iyer added.
