Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari reached Haridwar today. Here he performed Bhoomi Pujan and inaugurated 30 National Highway projects costing more than Rs 4750 crore in Tirthanagari.
During this, he said that it is a matter of joy that the MPs here have made demands from time to time. Construction of overbridge at Shyampur gate will be started within three months from today. The projects going on till now are worth Rs 1 lakh crore. Of these, there are only ropeways worth Rs 16 thousand crores. In the coming time, this amount will be Rs 2 lakh crore in Uttarakhand. Tuni Highway will be constructed by 2024. A road will be built from Kumaon to Badrinath. Construction work will be started to get rid of the jam in Mussoorie.
Distance from Delhi to Dehradun will decrease
The Union Minister has said that Uttarakhand currently has national highways spanning 3,608 kilometers. Many new projects have been started, some of which are going to be completed soon. One of the most awaited projects is the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, also known as the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor. This is expected to significantly reduce the travel time between Delhi and the state capital of Uttarakhand.
Good infrastructure is needed
Gadkari said, one thing is clear that if we want capital investment and development of industry then we need good infrastructure. Without water, electricity, transport and communication, we cannot develop agriculture, services and industry. We cannot develop tourism without infrastructure. Gadkari said, ‘When Modi ji became PM in 2014, he gave highest priority to the development of infrastructure in the country. When we have decided to make a great country developed, we will also have to develop global standard infrastructure and we are making every possible effort for this. He said that ethanol is being prepared from bamboo in the north-eastern state of Assam.
