Naiduniya Representative, Bhopal: Five Congress leaders including former Congress MLA Vipin Wankhede have been sentenced to two years of imprisonment each. Judge Swayam Prakash Dubey of the capital’s MP, MLA court pronounced the verdict in an eight-year-old case on Saturday. In the case, five accused including former Congress MLA Vipin Wankhede, Vivek Tripathi, Ashutosh Chaukse, Akash Chauhan and Dhanji Giri have been sentenced to two years of imprisonment and a fine of 11 thousand rupees each.
The Chief Minister’s residence was cordoned off in 2016
The case is of the year 2016. While being in the Congress student organization- NSUI, Vipin Wankhede had surrounded the Chief Minister’s residence. During this, he also staged a sit-in demonstration. During the demonstration, he obstructed government work by manhandling and assaulting the policemen. Stone pelting was also done during that time. In this case, the Habibganj police station had registered a case and investigated.
Wankhede said- we will keep fighting
After the sentencing in the case, former MLA Vipin Wankhede said, “We respect the court’s decision, but this movement is from the time when the Vyapam scam took place in MP. Today the Vyapam scam has reached the nursing scam. They have worked to shatter the dreams of the youth. Till the youth and the public do not get their rights, we will continue to fight as a soldier of the Congress.”
