In a dazzling display of economic prowess, India’s electronics exports vaulted beyond $47 billion in 2025, a landmark first that reflects a 37% escalation from 2024’s $34.93 billion. This surge, converting to ₹4.15 lakh crore, positions India firmly on the world stage, thanks to strategic initiatives like the PLI scheme.

The smartphone category stole the show, delivering nearly $30 billion—two-thirds of the pie. Exports peaked historically, with December 2025 at $4.17 billion, 16.8% above last year’s counterpart. Consistency shone through as exports topped $4 billion in seven months, affirming global trust in Indian quality.

A recent analysis shows 2025 smartphone dispatches as 38% of the 2021-2025 cumulative $79.03 billion, dominated by iPhones at 75% or over $22 billion. Nationally, iPhone exports exceeded ₹2 lakh crore, up 85% YoY, while overall production hit ₹11.3 lakh crore.

Vaishnaw emphasized semiconductors’ future role, with four plants gearing up for 2026 production. India now produces 99% of its mobile phones locally, ranking second globally. Discussions are underway to extend the PLI beyond its 2026 sunset, ensuring continued export dominance.
