The Indian team will take on the three-day practice match against Australia A here from Friday to prepare for the first Test of the night with pink ball in Adelaide from 17 December. This practice match will be played with pink ball only. For the first time India has to play day and night test on the land of Australia. India played and won their first day night Test against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens ground in Kolkata last year. Australia has a great record with the pink ball and India have to strengthen their preparation for the Test before this practice match.
India played the first three-match ODI series in Australia tour in which they suffered a 1-2 defeat but India then returned to equalize by winning the three-match T20 series 2-1. When India was playing T20 series, India A team was having a three day practice match with Australia A which was drawing.
Team India will test the players who have to play in the first Test in Adelaide in their second practice match. At the moment it is not clear whether captain Virat Kohli will play in this practice match or not. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane took the captaincy of the team in the first practice match. Virat said, “The decision to play or not to play in it is not in my hands and I would like to play in the entire match. I will decide to play in this match only after consulting the physio.
