MUMBAI: A Mumbai court docket on Friday allowed the anticipatory bail plea of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actor Madhur Mittal in a sexual harassment case filed by his ex-girlfriend.
Based on the girl’s grievance, Khar police had booked Mittal below IPC sections 323 (voluntarily inflicting damage), 354A (sexual harassment), 354B (use of legal drive to disrobe a girl), 354(D) (stalking) and 509 (phrases or gestures aspiring to insult the modesty of any lady) on February 23.
She has alleged that Mittal sexually harassed and battered her after they broke up.
Fearing arrest, Mittal had approached the court docket for anticipatory bail via his lawyer, advocate Saveena Bedi.
Bedi denied the allegations and claimed Mittal liked the complainant and all the time had the intention to marry her.
She had argued that there was a delay in submitting the FIR and it was finished to “defame” the actor.
Mittal, in his plea, had claimed, even after break up, the complainant wished to remain in the identical home to share the lease however he refused, which made her indignant.
The prosecution objected to the plea claiming the actor was continuously harassing the complainant.
After listening to submission by each side, extra periods decide SP Agarwal allowed the anticipatory bail of the actor.
