DC Films shelve ‘New Gods’ with Ava DuVernay, ‘The Trench’ with James Wan

LOS ANGELES: DC Films and Warner Bros usually are not transferring ahead with the DC Comics diversifications of “New Gods” from director Ava DuVernay and “Aquaman” spin-off “The Trench” by filmmaker James Wan.

Comic e book author Tom King was connected to pen the script for “New Gods”, whereas Peter Safran was on board as a producer on “The Trench”.

Warner Bros and DC shared the information of cancellation in a press release issued to The Hollywood Reporter. “As part of our DC slate, some legacy development titles including ‘New Gods’ and ‘The Trench’ will not be moving forward,” Warner Bros and DC stated in a press release.

“We thank our partners Ava DuVernay, Tom King, James Wan and Peter Safran for their time and collaboration during this process and look forward to our continued partnership with them on other DC stories. The projects will remain in their skillful hands if they were to move forward in the future,” he added.

“New Gods” would have dropped at the display screen varied comedian e book characters created by the legendary artist Jack Kirby. “The Trench”, in the meantime, was touted to be a horror-inflected one-off set within the harmful oceanic abyss crammed with the ravenous aquatic creatures first seen in Wan’s 2018 blockbuster “Aquaman”.

Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald had written the script. The two initiatives might have been shelved however DuVernay and Wan are nonetheless working with DC on teen superhero present “Naomi” and “Aquaman 2”, respectively.
