Raipur, 13 November 2024/ Bastar Olympics is being organized these days in all the districts of Bastar division. Even in a very backward area like Abujhmad, everyone from children to the elderly are taking part in the Bastar Olympics. The mascots of Bastar Olympics, the buffalo buffalo and the mountain myna, are attracting children, youth and common citizens.
Bastar Olympics is being organized in Bastar division on the special initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The main objective of this event is to hone the sports talent of players from tribal dominated areas of the state and connect them with creative activities. Chief Minister Shri Sai has appealed to the people of Bastar region to participate in these sports competitions in maximum numbers. He has said that sports and players are being continuously encouraged in the state and new sports infrastructure is being developed in Bastar region.
In the first phase of organizing Bastar Olympics, block level sports competitions are being organized from 6th November to 16th November. In the second phase, district level sports competitions will be organized from 19th November to 26th November. After this, division level sports competitions will be organized in the final phase. Sports like youth Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, volleyball, high jump, tawafeak, football, shot put, archery, badminton are being organized in Bastar Olympics.

Such games have been included in Bastar Olympics which the villagers have always played in the villages. Since these are games related to rural environment, people are participating in these games with enthusiasm without any hesitation. School children, rural women and elderly people are also enjoying these events. Especially the elders are reminiscing about their school life and childhood.

Players Jaisingh, Rajnu Yadav and their colleagues from Boravand village of Narayanpur expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai for this opportunity to improve their game in Bastar Olympics and he said that the sports talent of the talented youth of the remote inaccessible village of Abujhmad. This is a commendable initiative by them to improve the He told that in the Kabaddi men's category, his team got the first position at the development block level, for which he was given a trophy, medal and team dress. Ready for better performance at the district level.
Change coming in Abujhmad area
Players participating in Bastar Olympics said that security and infrastructure facilities are continuously improving in Abujhmad area. Maoist incidents have reduced in this area and the standard of living of the people is also improving. Basic facilities like roads, electricity, water, Anganwadi centres, schools and sub-health centers are being provided in the sensitive areas of Abujhmad. Concrete roads have now been built to remote villages like Irakbhatti, Maspur and Garpa, making it easier for the residents of these villages to connect with cities and markets. Starting of bus services from Narayanpur to Garpa and Maspur is also an important step in the development of this area, which is providing convenience to the people in transportation.
