Security forces, Maoists alternate hearth in Odisha; big cache of arms and ammunition recovered

MALKANGIRI: Security forces seized an enormous cache of arms and ammunition from a forest close to Kulabeda village in Malkangiri district following an alternate of fireplace with left wing extremists.

Sources stated one INSAS, 19 rounds of 5.56×39 mm ammunition, 15 rounds of seven.62×45 mm ammunition, one AK-47 journal, two INSAS journal, 4 Maoist package baggage, two journal pouchs, one digital digital camera, detonators, IED making supplies, energy banks, medication and Maoist literature have been recovered from the location.

Acting on intelligence inputs a few gathering of armed CPI Maoist cadres for finishing up subversive actions, a search and space domination operation was launched by safety forces comprising groups of SOG and Malkangiri District Voluntary Force (DVF) in bordering areas of Malkangiri and Koraput districts.

“When the combing operation was on in the jungle area near Kulabeda village, there was sudden unprovoked firing from the Maoist side. The security forces retaliated and started controlled firing after warning and appealing to the Maoists,” SP Rishikesh D Khilari stated in an announcement.

However, the Maoists managed to flee the realm making the most of the jungle and hilly terrain. After the alternate of fireplace, a search operation was performed throughout which the arms and ammunition had been seized from the realm, the SP stated.

The Maoists are shedding public help within the space and dealing with a backlash on account of elevated police presence and varied developmental initiatives.

The SP stated there may be credible enter about quite a few Maoists affected by COVID-19. “We have appealed to the Maoist cadres and militias to surrender and get better treatment besides joining the mainstream and becoming a part of the developmental process,” he added.

Recently, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and DG of Police Abhay had given a name to the crimson rebels to give up and develop into part of mainstream society.
