PURI: The famed Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri reopened on Thursday within the first part after remaining shut for over three months amid the COVID-restrictions.
In the primary part, solely members of the family of the servitors are being allowed to enter the temple, an official mentioned.
The temple will open for the general public within the second part, he mentioned.
The Twelfth-century shrine was shut on April 24 amid the second wave of the pandemic, and remained closed through the Ratha Jatra.
The members of the family of the servitors are being allowed darshan from Mangal Alati until Rati Pahuda, the official mentioned.
While coming into the temple, they’re required to supply any identification card issued by the temple authority together with a government-issued identification proof similar to Aadhaar card.
In the second part, residents of Puri might be allowed to enter the temple by way of the Lion’s Gate from August 16, the official mentioned.
The normal public might be allowed entry from August 23, he mentioned.
The temple will stay closed on August 21 and 22 in view of the shutdown in Puri on Saturdays and Sundays.
Devotees from exterior Puri must produce the ultimate COVID-vaccination certificates or COVID-negative RT-PCR report of testing carried out inside 96 hours.
They may even have to hold a government-issued identification card similar to Aadhaar.
