BHUBANESWAR: the State Election Commission (SEC) on Friday introduced elections to 106 city native our bodies (ULBs) and three municipal firms on March 24. Counting of votes can be held on March 26.
Announcing the ballot schedule, State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi instructed mediapersons that the mannequin code of conduct can be in drive in city areas going to polls from February 25 to March 26. This is for the primary time that elections to the posts of mayor in municipal firms and chairpersons of municipalities and notified space councils (NACs) can be held straight.

The SEC stated that 106 ULBs embody 47 municipalities and 49 NACs. He stated that elections can be held in 3030 cubicles of 1731 wards within the 106 ULBs with over 27 lakh voters. The three municipal firms could have a complete of 168 wards and 1,407 cubicles. These embody 67 wards and 705 cubicles in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 59 wards and 452 cubicles in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), and 42 wards and 250 cubicles in Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC).
The Commission additionally introduced that there can be a NOTA choice within the ULB elections for the primary time. While notification for the polls can be issued on February 28, submitting of nomination papers can be allowed from March 2 to March 7.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers can be held on March 9. The SEC stated the withdrawal of nomination papers can be allowed as much as March 14.
Padhi stated that the election to the posts of deputy mayor in municipal firms and vice-chairpersons in ULBs can be held on April 8 and April 7 respectively.
