The Kerala authorities has sanctioned compensation for duck farmers whose geese have been culled following the chicken flu menace in Alappuzha and Kottayam districts. The Cabinet has determined to supply Rs 100 for a duck which is lower than two months previous and Rs 200 for these that are above 2 months. Compensation of Rs 5 shall be paid for every egg destroyed.
However, the farmers organisations usually are not happy with the choice and mentioned that they may petition Animal Husbandry Minister Ok. Raju.
Raju is assembly the duck farmers at Alappuzha to debate on additional progress and to stop the spreading of the illness.

With chicken flu spreading, the state authorities shouldn’t be taking any probabilities and the minister has carried out a collection of conferences with animal husbandry officers and veterinary surgeons.
Radhakrishnan, Alappuzha district president of duck farmers affiliation, mentioned “The compensation announced by the state government is meagre and will not help us. We want at least double the amount sanctioned by the government for basic survival of our business.”
