Australia limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch on Tuesday heaped reward on quick bowler Josh Hazlewood, saying when he’s bowling at such constant lengths it turns into exhausting for batters to face him.
Hazlewood took 4 wickets to assist the T20 World champions beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets within the first T20I in Colombo.
“I think with the ball, when Josh Hazlewood is bowling such consistent lengths we know as batters how hard it is to face that. We wanted guys to take a risk playing the hardest shots against that length through the middle overs. We managed to get that. We managed to control the middle overs by getting wickets,” Finch mentioned after the match.
Australia bundled out Sri Lanka for 128 in 19.3 overs. While chasing a below-par whole in a rain-hit second innings, Finch (61*) together with David Warner (70*) helped Australia go 1-0 up within the three-match collection.
Talking concerning the opening partnership, Finch mentioned, “It was nice to get a few runs and have a really good partnership with Davey.”
Australia will meet Sri Lanka on June 8 for the second T20I.
