Indian nationwide died in accident at Singapore public housing undertaking
A 35-year-old Indian nationwide has died in a forklift accident at an under-construction public housing undertaking in Singapore, based on a media report.
The incident occurred on Thursday when the employee was standing on the rear counterweight of a forklift on the worksite whereas tying {an electrical} cable onto the facet of an overhead beam when the forklift moved backwards all of a sudden, reported The Straits Times.
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) mentioned the accident occurred on the upcoming 571-unit Keat Hong Verge Build-To-Order public housing undertaking of the state-run Housing and Development Board (HDB).
The accident occurred at about 10 am, and the employee was caught between the forklift’s cover and the beam on the Keat Hong Link website within the Choa Chu Kang zone.
He was employed by Mega Engineering (Singapore), a subcontractor to the principle contractor Teambuild Engineering and Construction.
The employee was unconscious when he was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, the place he was later pronounced useless.
The HDB mentioned it is going to work with Teambuild to help with the probe.
“Safety is of utmost importance to HDB,” mentioned an HDB spokesman.
“We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family and, together with the contractor, we will render support and assistance to them.” Teambuild, the principle contractor and occupier of the worksite, has been ordered to cease all work there.
