Dahi Handi celebrations: A day after Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, Dahi Handi is celebrated with great enthusiasm. On this day, young boys fill curd-butter in a clay pot and hang it at a height. Just as Bal Gopal used to steal yogurt and butter in his childhood, the same way the young class repeats the same leela. Along with Mathura-Vrindavan, this festival is more popularly celebrated in Gujarat and Maharashtra. So let’s know how this festival is celebrated. But before that, you know the Muhurta of Dahi Handi.
Dahi Handi Muhurta:
According to the Hindu calendar, the Ashtami date of the Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month has started at 09: 06 am on August 11. It will last for 11:16 minutes on August 12. The game of Dahi Handi is held on the next day of Ashtami. In such a situation, the festival of Dahi Handi will be celebrated on 12 August i.e. Wednesday.
Dahi Handi Festival:
Where earlier this Makhanchor i.e. Bal Gopal used to steal and eat curd-Makhan. At the same time, today this ritual is performed by dedicating them to the youth. This festival is celebrated community-wide. Prizes are also determined everywhere in it. Many teams participate in this. Which of these teams break the same handi in the stipulated time. A large pot of clay or handi is taken for the Dahi Handi. Fruit, honey, butter, curd and milk are usually filled in this handi. This handi is hung at about twenty to forty feet height. The team members then build a human pyramid. Then the last person i.e. Govinda goes to the top and breaks the handi. However, this time due to Corona, this event will not be organized keeping in mind the social distancing.
