A fireplace broke out at Kolkata’s Baghbazar Wednesday evening. As many as 20 hearth tenders have been rushed to extinguish the blaze.
At least seven cylinders exploded throughout the hearth, making it troublesome for the firemen to comprise the flames.
The reason for the fireplace has not been ascertained but. No casualties have been reported thus far.

“The motive for the fireplace just isn’t but recognized. The firemen are preventing it tooth and nail and hopefully, it’ll quickly be
below management. We have emptied all the space. There have been a number of blasts, which may very well be due to the fuel cylinders,” a senior officer of the Kolkata Police mentioned.
Locals alleged that firefighters reached the spot not less than an hour late, due to which the blaze went uncontrolled.
A few police autos have been vandalised, following which a crew of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed to manage the irate mob, the officer mentioned.
Traffic motion on the Kshirode Vidyavinode Avenue in addition to the Chitpore Lock Gate Bridge, the lifeline of the individuals dwelling within the northern fringes of the town, was completely stopped, he mentioned.
“We have also snapped electricity supply in the entire area. There are at least 40 families whose houses have been gutted in the fire. A godown of books is also gutted,” the police officer mentioned.
