Pakistan boat with Rs 300 crore price narcotics seized close to Gujarat coast: Indian Coast Guard

AHMEDABAD: A Pakistani boat with 10 crew members carrying arms, ammunition and 40 kg of narcotics price Rs 300 crore was intercepted off the Gujarat coast within the early hours of Monday, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) stated.

Based on particular inputs shared by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad, the Coast Guard deployed its quick patrol ship ‘ICGS Arinjay’ for patrolling within the space near the International Maritime Border Line (IMBL) on the intervening evening of December 25 and 26, the ICG stated in a launch.

In the early hours of the day, the Pakistani fishing boat ‘Al Soheli’ was noticed shifting suspiciously in Indian waters.

On being challenged by the ICG ship, the boat began evasive manoeuvring and didn’t cease even after firing warning photographs, it stated.

The Coast Guard ultimately managed to intercept and cease the boat.

As per the discharge, arms, ammunition and practically 40 kg of narcotics price Rs 300 crore had been discovered on the boat. The 10 crew members and boat are being dropped at Okha port for additional investigation.

This is the seventh joint operation by the ICG and Gujarat ATS within the final 18 months, and the primary apprehension whereby arms and ammunition together with medicine had been recovered.

A complete of 346 kg of heroin price Rs 1,930 crore has been seized and 44 Pakistani and 7 Iranian crew have been apprehended within the final 18 months, the discharge stated.
