By India Today Web Desk: Novak Djokovic is all set to return to the Australian Open after the controversy he was concerned in again in 2021 as a result of his Covid vaccination standing. The Serbian was deported from Melbourne beneath controversial circumstances after he arrived within the nation with out getting vaccinated.
On Tuesday, December 27, the 35-year-old Djokovic arrived in Australia after the Australian authorities granted a visa to the veteran.
Before the Australian Open, Djokovic is ready to ply his commerce within the Adelaide International, beginning Sunday, December 31.
Australian Open match director Craig Tiley, within the meantime, mentioned that Djokovic could be welcomed with open arms within the nation.
“I have a great deal of confidence in the Australian public. We’re a very well-educated sporting public, particularly those who come to the tennis, they love their tennis, they love seeing greatness, they love seeing great athleticism, great matches,” Tiley was quoted as saying.
“And I’ve numerous confidence that the followers will react like we hope they might react and have respect for that,” he added.
Djokovic has received 9 Australian Open titles and might be trying to win his tenth. Djokovic received his twenty first Grand Slam after he defeated Australia’s Nick Kyrgios within the ultimate at Wimbledon.
He may even be trying to equal Rafael Nadal, who has received 22 Grand Slams in his profession. Back in February 2021, Djokovic beat Daniil Medvedev in straight units to win his ninth Australian Open, however he didn’t get to defend his title in 2022.
The upcoming version of the Australian Open is ready to be performed from January 16 to 29 at Melbourne Park.
