By India Today Web Desk: Australia head coach Shelley Nitschke acknowledged that her crew has the flexibility to adapt to totally different situations on the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa.
The five-time T20 World Cup champions Australia will start their title defence in opposition to New Zealand on February 11. Ahead of their opening match, Australia performed two warm-up matches – in opposition to India and Ireland. Australia received the low-scoring battle in opposition to India, however couldn’t defend 168 in opposition to Ireland.
“What we have found with the conditions here so far with the all the training venues we have been at and even the two warm-up games, that the conditions have been quite different,” Nitschke stated.
“I think one of the strengths of our group is having that ability to be able to adapt, we have got a lot of experience in our group. That is going to be really important for us, reading the conditions early and then adapting what the best ball to bowl is, what the best way to play the conditions is going to be, and being able to do that quicker than the opposition.”
Nitschke additional stated that Australia are near finalising their taking part in XI for the opening match. Wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy’s return from a calf harm means there could be a minimum of one change to the aspect that performed in opposition to Pakistan. The foremost problem for the aspect could be to determine its finest bowling mixture.
“I think we are getting there,” Nitschke stated. “We will probably have a bit of a discussion around training tomorrow and have a look at our matchups and what our best XI is coming into that first round, which is a big game for us against the Kiwis.”
