Modi paid tribute to the legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyanchand, “Today, on National Sports Day, we pay tribute to Major Dhyanchand, whose eccentric magic associated with hockey sticks can never be forgotten.” Greeting the players on ‘National Sports Day’, the Prime Minister said, “National Sports Day is a special day to celebrate the remarkable achievements of all those exemplary players who have represented India in various sports and also our nation. Has made us proud. The tenacity and determination of all these players is certainly excellent. He also said, “Not only this, it is also a special day to appreciate the remarkable support given by our families, coaches and support staff in the success of our talented athletes. Modi said, “The Government of India is making tireless efforts to popularize various sports as well as to provide necessary support to sports talent in India.” Along with this, I urge all people to make sports and fitness exercise an important part of their daily routine.
