Congress targets ex-tehsildar for land deal

ROURKELA: Former Rourkela tehsildar Manas Ranjan Sahu has landed in controversy over transaction of a chief authorities plot of two.79 acre at Panposh right here. Sahu, 28, went on coaching for India Railway Service (IRS) final month after clearing the Indian Civil Services examination. 

On Monday, members of the district Congress committee (DCC) staged protest in entrance of the workplace of Rourkela ADM Aboli Sunil Naravane searching for inquiry into all land transactions throughout Sahu’s tenure as tehsildar. They handed over a memorandum addressed to Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan on this regard. 

The memorandum said {that a} retired income worker, Ambika Swain, was making an attempt to get a plot of two.79 acre beneath Khata no 307 of Rourkela Town Unit-40 in his identify since 2014 and a miscellaneous case with file quantity 33/2014 was created on this regard. 

As Swain’s software was in contravention of the income legal guidelines and no different tehsildar thought of it, Sahu transferred the land to Swain on December 1, 2020 via mutation case no. 551/2020. However, on the final day of his workplace on December 18, Sahu filed one other miscellaneous case (No 36/2020) and cancelled the transaction, the memorandum alleged. 

Rourkela DCC president George Tirkey stated Sahu’s conduct was doubtful and demanded a radical probe into the circumstances of switch of land and its cancellation. He sought inquiry into all transactions of land switch, land report corrections and adjustments of land sort throughout Sahu’s tenure from May 1 to December 18, 2020.Sahu, a local of Bisra block in Sundargarh district, had secured 567th rank in UPSC.
