By India Today Web Desk: Former India pacer Sreesanth has revealed his relationship with former India spinner Harbhajan Singh, 14 years after the ‘Slapgate’ incident. Harbhajan had slapped Sreesanth in the course of the inaugural version of the Indian Premier League in 2008, and was subsequently banned from the remainder of the season.
Speaking on the Sports Yaari present on Youtube, Sreesanth stated he has at all times been mates with Harbhajan and it was only a misunderstanding, including that Harbhajan has supported him from the start.
“We have always been friends. That was just a misunderstanding and the media made a big noise out of it. I will just say that Bhajji pa has supported me from the beginning in every way, including recently with commentary tips,” stated Sreesanth.
The 40-year-old added that he’s very grateful to Harbhajan for his fixed help, insisting that their friendship is just like the tune ‘Tera Jaisa Yaar Kaha’.
“He has supported me and helped me a lot and I am very thankful to him. There is that song, ‘Tere jaisa yaar kaha’, that is my relationship with him,” Sreesanth added.
The scuffle between the 2 Indian teammates broke out in 2008 when Sreesanth was taking part in for Kings XI Punjab and Harbhahan Singh was captaining Mumbai Indians. The two participant exchanged phrases after the sport, which adopted Harbhajan slapping Sreesanth, leaving him in tears.
The former India spinner has since come out and apologised for his behaviour in opposition to Sreesanth, saying he made a mistake by embarrassing his teammate on the sphere.
“What happened was wrong. I made a mistake. Because of me, my teammate had to face embarrassment. I was embarrassed. If I had to correct one mistake, it was how I treated Sreesanth on the field. It should not have happened. When I think about it, I feel there was no need,” Harbhajan had stated in 2022.
Harbhajan retired from all types of cricket in December 2021, whereas Sreesanth known as time on his profession in March 2022.
