Raipur, 16 December 2024/ Under the direction of Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, the tigress, which was roaming in the residential areas of Municipal Corporation Chirmiri under Koriya Forest Division for the last one week, has been safely rescued after tranquilizing it.

Under the leadership of Forest Conservator (Wildlife) KR Carpenter from Surguja, Dr. PK Chandan from Kanan Pendari, Dr. Ajit Pandey from Tamor Pingla Elephant Rescue Center and Dr. Verma from Jungle Safari Raipur had reached to rescue the tigress. Under his supervision, the tigress was rescued and taken to safety at 4 pm today. The female tiger was tranquilized in the forest near Haldibari Baghancha Dafai of Municipal Corporation Chirmiri. Then it was covered with a green net and put in a cage. After this, it was loaded into the forest department truck and taken away. During this time, a large crowd of people had gathered to see the tigress. The tigress will be released to a tiger reserve after receiving instructions from Forest Headquarters Raipur.

It is worth noting that since the last one week, after finding evidence of tigress moving in the Eastern Sajapahad beat of Korea Forest Division, Baikunthpur, the Forest Department staff was on full alert and continuously monitoring it. Special precautions were being taken keeping in mind that there are villages located around the forests in the tigress's roaming area. The Forest Divisional Officer had also written a letter to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife of Chhattisgarh, seeking permission for tranquilization and transportation to rescue the tigress and release her at a safe place.

Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap said that the movement of this tigress was confirmed through trap camera and directly. After this, the Forest Department staff became active and were continuously instructing the villagers and shepherds to be careful and not leave the forest. Today this tigress had entered an enclosure in ward number 15 and number 6 Golai (Bagancha) of Municipal Corporation Chirmiri. The patrol team was monitoring the movement of the tigress round the clock. The tigress had also hunted 2 cattle.
