BHADOHI: A bunch of individuals on Saturday pelted stones at police personnel when attempt tried to take away a statue of B R Ambedkar that was allegedly illegally put in in a single day, leaving two cops injured, a senior official stated.
Circle Officer (CO) Bhubaneshwar Kumar Pandey stated police used “minor force” to disperse the violent crowd within the Bhadohi police station space.
A complete of 11 individuals, together with three ladies, have been arrested on the spot, the police stated.
Pandey stated that the Ambedkar statue was put in on a platform on Friday evening on the land designated for a pond in Mushilatpur village within the metropolis Kotwali space.
The CO stated that on receiving a grievance, senior police and administrative officers reached the spot and requested the locals to take away the statue however they resisted.
When the officers tried to take away the statue, the group indulged in stone pelting, forcing the police to make use of lathi-charge to disperse the protesters.
The injured personnel have been taken to hospital, he stated.
Tension prevailed within the space and extra police pressure has been deployed to keep up legislation and order, the CO stated, including that efforts are on to arrest the others concerned within the incident.
Meanwhile, officers have stored the statue on the police station.
