KOLLAM: The UDF intensified its protest towards Okay B Ganesh Kumar, MLA, on Monday. The MLA was burnt in effigy throughout the district. A dawn-to-dusk hartal was referred to as by Congress in Pathanapuram in protest towards the assault on Youth Congress activists on Friday.
A Karunagappally court docket granted bail to 5 Youth Congress staff, who have been arrested on Sunday for allegedly throwing stones at a car wherein Ganesh was travelling. Advocate Chandy Oommen, appeared for the Youth Congress staff. He claimed that it was a politically motivated case. The stone-pelting incident happened close to Nallezhuthumukku close to Chavara throughout a rally staged by the Youth Congress on NH on Sunday.
Meanwhile, after steady protests for the previous few days by the Youth Congress towards the assault on its activists on Friday, the Chavara police on Monday registered a case towards Ganesh’s former PA Pradeep Kottathala and three others.
