Jharkhand’s Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam, arrested in the Tender Commission Scam, was presented in the Special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Court in Ranchi on Thursday amid tight security. The ED filed a petition for ten days’ remand to question the minister. On this, the court has approved six days’ remand. During the debate on the remand petition, Special Public Prosecutor Shiv Kumar on behalf of the ED said that strong evidence has been found against the minister in the tender scam. In such a situation, permission should be given to question him for a long time. Alamgir Alam’s lawyer opposed this. After this, the court approved six days of remand. When the ED team reached the court on Thursday with Alamgir Alam surrounded by security forces, his supporters present there in large numbers raised slogans of Zindabad. Let us tell you that Alamgir Alam was arrested by the ED after nine and a half hours of interrogation on Tuesday and six hours on Wednesday.
ED had recovered Rs 37.37 crore during the raid conducted on 6-7 May at the residences of his PS Sanjeev Kumar Lal, domestic help Jahangir Alam and other close associates. During interrogation and investigation, ED has found that minister Alamgir Alam is directly involved in this case. After this, he was arrested. Alamgir Alam is the number two minister in the cabinet of Jharkhand government.
He is also the leader of the Congress Legislature Party in the Jharkhand Assembly. The ED has taken his PS Sanjeev Kumar Lal and domestic help Jahangir Lal on remand from May 8 and their interrogation is going on continuously. During this, it has been revealed that commission was collected from managing tenders to making payments in the schemes of the Rural Development Department and a certain part of it reached senior officers and Minister Alamgir Alam.
