New Delhi. The first cabinet meeting of the new government was held at the PM residence. In this meeting, the portfolios were divided among all the ministers. Earlier on Sunday evening, Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the third time. Along with him, 71 other people also took oath as Union Ministers. Eight ministers from Bihar have also got a place in the cabinet. Out of these eight ministers, four have been given cabinet status. Among them, one minister each has been made from BJP, JDU, HAM and LJP (R). While four have been made Ministers of State, out of which three are from BJP and one from JDU.

In the distribution of Narendra Modi’s cabinet, Hindustan Awam Morcha founder and former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi has got the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). LJP (National) National President Chirag Paswan, who has become a minister at the center for the first time, has been made the Food Processing Minister. BJP’s firebrand leader Giriraj Singh has been given the Textile Ministry. JDU’s former National President Lalan Singh has been made the Cabinet Minister of Panchayati Raj, Fisheries, Animal Resources and Dairy Ministry.
Minister of State from Bihar
Among the state ministers, Nityanand Rai of BJP quota has been made the Minister of State for Home along with Home Minister Amit Shah. Ramnath Thakur, who became a minister from JDU quota, has been appointed as the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Satish Chandra Dubey, who became a minister from BJP quota, has been appointed as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal and Mines under G. Kishan Reddy and Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, who became a minister of state from BJP quota, has been appointed as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Water Power under CR Patil.

Among the eight leaders from Bihar who have been included in the cabinet, six are new faces. Two old faces are Giriraj Singh and Nityanand Rai. Giriraj Singh was earlier a Union Minister of State in the Narendra Modi government in 2014 and a Union Minister in 2019. He has become a minister in the central government for the third time. Nityanand Rai became a Union Minister of State in 2019.
