Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. The High Court cancelled the government’s order to transfer Patwaris to other districts. After the hearing, the court admitted that the rules were not followed in these transfers. The court ordered that if the department wants, it can complete its process as per the rules. The court also dismissed all the petitions filed regarding this.

Patwari Anurag Shukla, Sanad Kumar Vishwas and others were transferred to other districts on 30 September 2022 by the Under Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department. The Patwaris filed a petition in the High Court, citing the rules, stating that the appointing officer of the Patwaris is the Collector. Their seniority is based on the district. If they are transferred outside the district, they will be lower in the seniority list. Also, in Section 104 of the Land Revenue Code, the right of appointment and services has been given to the Collector. In the revised order of clause 16 of section 5 of the Revenue Book Circular, the Collector has the right to transfer the Patwaris within their district. Earlier, the court had stayed the transfer order.
