Gariaband. The administration has swung into action after receiving a complaint of illegal sand transportation from the minister who was on a Devbhog tour. The revenue staff under the leadership of SDM Hitesh Pisda has caught a truck loaded with sand. The truck number CG 23 M 7913 was coming from the Odisha border towards Chhattisgarh in the darkness of the night. It was stopped by Naib Tehsildar Vijay Singh. The driver fled as soon as the vehicle was stopped.
In a short while, the vehicle owner and the former contractor reached the spot. They started arguing with the administrative staff. By then, SDM Pisda and Tehsildar Sunil Bhoi also reached the spot. Seeing the contractor’s argument, the administration had to call the police. The driver was absconding, so Naib Tehsildar Vijay Singh drove the vehicle to the police station. SDM Pisda confirmed the seizure of the vehicle and said that appropriate action would be taken further.
