Rohit Kashyap, Mungeli. The High Court and Session Court have rejected the bail plea of those who caused loss of lakhs to the government by committing irregularities in paddy procurement.

Let us tell you that in the Kharif marketing year 2023-24, about 55 lakh 86 thousand quintals of paddy was purchased in the district. Taking cognizance of the complaint of embezzlement of paddy in many procurement centers and irregularities by the procurement in-charges during the lifting of paddy, Collector Rahul Dev constituted a joint investigation team and got the physical verification of the remaining paddy left in the procurement centers done, in which major irregularities were revealed in procurement centers like Akhrar, Guruvaindabari and Tarwarpur etc.

Following the collector’s instructions, the cooperative department lodged an FIR under sections 420 and 409 of the IPC against Ramdas Banjara, procurement in-charge of Guruvaindabari, on the grounds of selling paddy without DO and embezzling paddy worth more than 2,000 quintals.

Similarly, on the basis of embezzlement of about 1258 quintals of paddy in Akhrar, purchase in-charge Dilip Jaiswal and computer operator Rajendra Jaiswal were booked under Section 420 and 409, and on the basis of embezzlement of about 650 quintals of paddy against Tarwarpur purchase in-charge Bhupendra Banjare, FIR was lodged under Section 420 and 409, after which purchase in-charge of Guruvaindabari Ramdas Banjara filed a petition for bail in the High Court, which has been rejected by the High Court. At the same time, the petition filed by Akhrar purchase in-charge and computer operator for bail in the Sessions Court has also been rejected by the court, which has made it certain that those who defrauded the government of lakhs will have to pay the price for it.

    Preparations for action against Millers

Collector Rahul Dev has sent a letter to the collectors of the concerned district and MD Markfed to cancel the registration of millers who are not interested in paddy lifting and to blacklist them. Soon action will be taken against these millers as well. The collector has clearly said that any kind of irregularity will not be tolerated during paddy lifting. No person can harm the government and administration by deceiving them. If any irregularity or embezzlement is found in the procurement centers, strict action will be taken against the concerned person.
